The Blog Life!

So this is the practically the end of the semester and I am in love with constantly updating my Blog. Though I'm no Perez Hilton, I am in love with the idea of bogging my thoughts and feelings. Though it is the end, I'd like to continue with blogging. I'd like all of us to continue blogging. It doesn't have to be super often, but at least from time to time, there can be updates. Like whenever you find something interesting in the Tech World, let the rest of us know.

There are blogs for everything it seems. Just like there's an app for everything, there's clearly a blog for everything. I'm thinking about creating another Blog site more geared towards non-tech things, since I'm not really tech savvy, if I do, I'll definitely let you all know. And if you find yourself bored one day, why not create a blog and allow us (the world) to follow you on your journey. I know one of our peers created a blog on her pregnancy! That has to be the most amazing thing ever, right? The fact that we can follow her on this 9 month journey. It's such a pleasure.

Technology has done such great things for all of us. You know the phrase, "can't live with it, can't live without it"? Well, that's like technology. Though it seems like technology can get a little annoying at times, it's just a way of life. It's how we are constantly updating with time as time progress and move on.

I Like Reading Books... My E-Book, That Is!

"Did you get that new book? Which book? You know, that new book? Ohhhh, that book? Yeah, I got it on my E-Book, want to read it?" Whatever happened to snuggling up in bed on a cold winter night underneath a huge comforter and reading a great book? Now, though you can enjoy a good read during the winter, more than likely it's taking place with an E-Book in your hand. More and more people are purchasing books online. Many people see it as being much more convenient and easier to manage and finish. There are several consumers that take advantage of having an E-Book, such as students, travelers and the visially impaired. What's better than going to the beach to get a tan, with a lovely E-Book in your hand? Though the idea of the E-Book is pretty cool, it's just a little odd to me. I "kindasorta" enjoy manually holding on to my book and highlighting it myself with my new pack of highlighters. Call me old-fashioned, WHATEVER! :)

Today, many people are buying electronic books for their iPhone and BlackBerry. It's so convenient to catch up with their readings on their personal smartphones while waiting on their lunch date. Whenever there's that downtime, there's always time to pick up the iPhone and catch up on the last few pages of that chapter. Though I haven't considered getting into E-Books, but I wouldn't mind downloading a few just for fun and whenever I have free time I could use it on reading. Reading is fundamental, right?

In today's society, it's imperative that we move with time because time stops for no one. The same way time doesn't stop, it seems like new technology developments aren't stopping for anyone who is lagging behind.

Do any of you own an E-Book? Let me know!

I Just Want To Shop!

It's the new thing. Why do that extra process of driving your car to the mall that's twenty minutes away, while you could actually bring the mall to your very own doorstep. It's so convenient to just turn on your laptop/computer and start clicking away. Though it's convenient, it could also be very costly. In today's society, shopping online is definitely a great option. Many stores are getting way more consumers via their online website than in-store visits. Though some people might go in the store from to time, you find many people more interested in buying things online. Why is that? Besides the convenience of not having to drive to the mall, there are other reasons why shopping online is a better option. The chaotic look of a store can always cause dismay to customers. Who wants to be in the middle of fifty unorganized racks of clothing? Who wants to look for that last size 5 jeans? It is so much easier to sit behind a computer and choose the sizes that are available. For some reason, sizes online is usually easy for me to get a hold of. I'm an extra small in just about everything, and I am always lucky enough to grab that size extra small/small. I am in love with the fact that I am not searching high and low for a size, I just click and go.

Online shopping has caused great things for many people who are always on the go. There are those who don't have the time to go in the store and look for the clothes they need. A friend of mine and I were having a conversation about online shopping and we talked about how she never looks forward to going shopping at the local shopping mall because when she gets there she can never find what she wants. Technology has created the same stores and content in a more organized matter, can't beat that, you know? Career oriented women are really into shopping online because they can shop from behind their desk at work, best of both worlds.

I wonder if shopping online is going to eliminate stores and its content over time. What do you think?

Daily News!

I live for sites like CNN.com. CNN is one of the leading sources for getting the news at your fingertips at any time of the day. My Homepage is currently set to CNN.com. Besides the fact that CNN is where I want to hold my career in the future, it gives me the whole story of every story as well. Though I am hooked to my local news, I also love Headline news that not only affect people in my community, but the country as a whole.

Many know CNN as CNN, not Cable News Network. (Did you know that's what CNN stood for?) CNN was the first channel to provide news 24 hours a day back in 1980 and fifteen years later, created a website so news can be updated via the web. At first it was a trial, and today CNN has become one of the leading source for Headline news on the web, after msnbc.com and Yahoo!News. Yahoo!News has been around for quite some time and it seems like it's going nowhere. Several people uses Yahoo!News on a daily and feel like it is the best news around. There are those who swear by other news sources via the web.

Today, many people doesn't bother with having to watch the news on their television. Many turn to sites such as CNN.com to get their daily dosage of what's going on in the world. Many stay updated via the web on major stories that they find interesting, whether it be political or stock market, it's on sites such as CNN.com. There are CNN apps, a Facebook page for CNN, as well as a Twitter. The popular news site knew it was time to revamp their tech involvement to become one of the leading sources for news.

I have a friend of mine who is obsessed with stock markets and such. Any financial/economical news, he is on top of it all. He is always online searching for updates on the way our economy is improving or losing it's power grip. Honestly, he's my personal financial news source. He is a finance major and we were having small talk about issues that pertains to us (the younger generation) and how our future will be affected by the way the government is poorly taking care of the very little money we have. I asked him what's his source, he said to me "The NY Times, Baby" So I said "touche".

Everyone has their personal way of getting their news. Whether it be via the web on Yahoo!News or sites such as The New York Times. Everyone like what they like, and want what they want. It's kind of hard to imagine how the newspaper industry will be in a few years. Will it still be in existence? We shall see!

Let me know what's your favorite news site! CNN? msnbc? Yahoo!? Or do you stick to local?

Is It AIM or A-I-M?

Uhmmm, does it really matter? I know you all have been asked that question at some point in your life, or you've been living under a rock. I would hate when people would tell me that they hate the way I say A-I-M (in the individual letters, instead of the one-worded way, AIM) I'm like seriously? Does it even matter? Gosh! (Okay, enough with that pointless rant)!

Tell me something, when was the last time you actually took the time to sign on to your instant messaging account, whether it be AIM (A-I-M) or Yahoo, when was the last time you actually held a conversation with one of your buddies? I remember back in middle school, my friends and I would rush from school and immediately sign on. Sometimes we'd have our away messages up and sometimes we'd be idle for hours, either way, we were signed on. Now it seems as if the younger up and coming generation are unaware of what Instant Messengers are all about. Everyone has a Myspace, Facebook or Twitter, what's the point of talking instantly via the internet? That's lame. Why not air our whole conversation via Facebook statuses so the rest of our friends can engage in it as well? Things just aren't the same anymore. Kids these days don't appreciate a private conversation shared between two people and no one else.

Technology has definitely eliminated private conversations. When instant messengers were becoming the it thing to have, people felt like it was taking a little away from privacy because anyone can sign on as you and pretend to be you. But Facebook and Twitter has taken a whole new outlook on what's private or not. The only way for something to be considered private is via private message, and who wants to do that anymore? A post on a wall is so much easier, riiiiiiiiiiight! *sarcasm*

YouTube Anyone?

A day in the life of --- via YouTube. Really? Do I really want to sit there and watch you throughout the day? There are so many YouTubers that I bring it to my home everyday. You would think I have no life... *blank stare* I do have a life, I promise. I just find it a little interesting to watch videos starring other girls my age going about their daily lives. :) Some bring me along on their journey to work, shopping, out with friends- it's a day in the life of ---!

There are millions of videos that are uploaded everyday on a broad range of topics. There are beauty videos, music videos and so many others. This is Youtubers' way of letting people all across the world get to know them.

Justin Beiber, a young pop star was discovered because of YouTube. He displayed his talent to the world and ended up with a record deal and millions of teenage girls obsessing over him. There are several YouTube beauty gurus that are being recognized for their personalities and talented skills in the news media.

Back in the day, people didn't find it necessary to air their lives to the world, but now it's becoming the normal thing. There are pregnant women who video tape their nine month pregnancy to the world. I told my mom about this and she was in complete awe. She's one of those old-fashioned women who believe certain experiences shouldn't be shared with the rest of the world.

The time line: Talk to family and friends-- Wrote thoughts/feelings in diary-- Created BLOGS and expressed their thoughts via there-- Create YouTube channels and VLOG their lives away. I wonder what's next in the time line!

Don't Worry, There's An App For That!

Sorry peeps, but I've been super sick in the past few weeks (Ugh, wish there was better technology that can cure me of all illnesses) but I am back and in full effect. So what have I missed? I know, I know, so much, but hey, I'm back and I'm here to stay.

So let's get to it... There's an app for that! I was having a conversation with one of my tech savvy friends and we were talking about how the iPhone has literally taken over the media world of communication. I swear, everywhere I turn, there's an iPhone in my presence. The iPhone is known for their invigorating tools used on the phones to make communicating much more enjoyable... or does it just make it more complicated? Because I am not an AT&T user, I am unable to get the most talked about phone, but I have been given the chance to use it for a few hours. And I must say, it's pretty amazing, but man, is it complicated. From the millions of apps, to the trying to make a call, at times I was a bit confused as to what I should press next, but I got used to it after a few hours. Whether it's trying to entertain your guests with cocktails or trying to get directions to the nearest restaurant, there's an app for that. I was looking through the apps available and man, was I fascinated. Every other app was something I felt like I needed it in my life and onto my phone. Currently, I have a BlackBerry and though there are apps that can be added to the BlackBerry, it's not as much of a variety on the iPhone.

Day after day, new apps are being created and helping people carry on with their everyday lives. Do you use any apps? Which ones? Which is the most bizarre one you've ever heard of? Share your thoughts, can't wait to read them!
