These days, it seems like everyone has a Twitter! If you don't have a Twitter, then you're basically not cool! I guess I'm one of the ones who aren't cool, because I have yet to start tweeting my life away... Literally. I have a friend of mine who makes it his priority to tweet every hour, on the hour, it's borderline scary. In today's society, there are so many ways we communicate with family, friends and co-workers, and apparently Twitter has rapidly taken over. Twitter has not only been classified as a social network, but an information network. It serves the purpose to tell people what they care about around the world as it's happening. The idea behind Twitter is great, but I couldn't allow myself to get hooked to yet another social networking site, (Myspace and Facebook). There are some great people who tweets on a daily and enjoy every minute of it. Celebrities like P.Diddy, Ashton Kutcher and even Jospeh 'Rev Run' Simmons. All three of these tweeters have thousands of followers and the numbers increase day after day. Many news channles now have Twitter accounts and expect people to follow the news via twitter, and it has been one of the greatest ideas ever. So many of my friends never turn on their televison sets to watch the news, but once it's on Twitter, it's one everyone is talking about. Twitter is a great addition to the tech world, it's going to be interesting to see how far it's going to go! Do you have a twitter? If I could follow you, I definitely would. Perhaps post your twitter name and some of our other peers will follow you!
haha I don't think you're uncool for not having a twitter because it took a long time for me to warm up to the site. It seemed pointless to just randomly update a sentence about whatever is going on in my life. I was forced into using it because I had to do social media marketing for a company Honeycat Cosmetics, and thus gradually got sucked into the Twitter world. If you don't want one, I know some people who simply have twitter pages so they can follow their favorite celebrities.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on seeing how far it goes, especially because there are now salaried jobs for people to spend time updating Twitters, it just seems so unreal.
Personally, I do have a twitter myself but I usually dont actually tweet. I do find it fascinating to keep up with everyone else (mainly celebrities) that update frequently. It makes me feel like I know them a little better, even though in reality I know I dont. Certain artists also have begun using twitter as a way to show different contests and giveaways that if not following them on twitter, you would know nothing about. These contests sometimes give you VIP and backstage passes which is really cool. It does become a little addicting though I am not going to lie.
ReplyDeleteHey Prenes! This is Rebecca, your old roomie from Bryan Hall! I can't believe we have the same class! How cool. Anywho, I know where you're coming from. For the longest time I wanted nothing to do with Twitter. Finally I got one after going on a trip with the Florida Public Relations Association. Everyone had one, and I soon realized I needed to get in on the action if I were going to even think about competing with the best in my field. I try to tweet relevant public relations tid-bits and notify my follows, however few there may be, of my new blog posts. I think that once you get one you'll really get the hang of it. If you decide to get an account you can look me up. Mine is: @MsRebeccaMorse
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading more of your blog posts! Here's the link to mine: http://morse-online.com/rlm/
Hey you all, thanks for posting on this! I'm late, but I was sick so please don't be mad at me. And ladies, you all will be so fascinated to hear that I am soon to get my Twitter up and running. I feel like it'll be beneficial to me to stay in tune with what's going on around the world. So let's act like this is Twitter for a moment:
ReplyDelete@TV, I'm glad you think I'm not too uncool for not having one, that makes one of you! (haha) But yeah, it does look a little confusing, but I'm sure with time, I'll get pretty used to it!
@ Jenn, thanks for the heads up. I don't want to be overly obsessed with it, but knowing me, I will be! You should share you link, I'll follow you!
:)
@ Rebecca, Woot woot for the Bryan Hall reunion! Florida Public Relations Association? Wow, that sounds amazing! When I get it, I'll be sure to follow you!
Thanks for posting you all!
